As is so often the case Germany was not going to let any other country take away their gold medals. As in Murnau a year ago Germany won both the women and the men competition.

The German men were in second place comming into the play on Thursday but that soon changed. After  the first two rounds they led Sweden by ten strokes and in the end they finished 22 strokes ahead of Sweden. The fight for second place was more exciting. Sweden and Austia went head to head until lane 15 on the last round when a two by Reinhard Schuster was countered by an ace by Daniel Ågren. That ace really sealed the swedish silver medals. The swedish debutant Daniel Ågren played very well against the difficult Austrian opponent.

The German team

In the womens team competetion Germany had a solid lead going in to the last day. The silver medalist Sweden played very well and closed the gap a bit but it was not enough. In the end Germany won by seven strokes. Switzerland came in third.

The competition now continues with the stroke play finals. Oddly enough it is the German reserves who top the individual lists. Karl-Heinz Gerwert in the mens category and Nicole Warnecke in the womens category. Nicole shares the lead with Linda Lundberg from Sweden and Karl-Heinz has a veryh thin lead before a couple of players headed by Reinhard Schuster.
